Home Coding tips Android USB Recovery

USB Recovery

A while ago, I installed the latest version of Samsung Kies (v2.0) on my PC.
After the first successful connect I restarted my PC, went home and found the other day that I could not connect anymore to my Android phone.
Not with Kies an not with the Eclipse Android Device Manager.
It has taken me hours to find out that the problem was not in the new software and drivers but in the phone itself.

I found this trick to reset the USB port, and after applying these steps everything came to life again:

1. Dial *#7284#. This should open app called PhoneUtil (there are other ways to get to it)

2. In USB section, swith it to Modem, then switch it back to PDA

3. Exit, and USB should work.

There are lots of other codes to be found, though be very carefull as some of these will wipe your phone!
